An Experiment and Muffins

Amy LOVES to do science experiments. Just about everyday she asks me if we can do one. I'm not always prepared with ingredients, patience and the desire for more of a mess, so unfortunately she gets disappointed a lot! Poor thing. Yesterday I decided to finally buckle down and do one with her. I found this easy one (and had all the ingredients!), called Elephant Toothpaste, on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl. It basically creates a foam the kids can play in. They both loved it, though Will didn't really like his hands all foamy. It worked great! I gave them spoons and it kept them occupied for a little while.

Last night, we had a short Family Home Evening and read a story from the Friend (a kids church magazine). On the opposite page was a recipe for muffins. Amy really wanted to try to make them. This morning when I said, "What should we have for breakfast?" Amy said, "What about those muffins?" So we got to work. She did a great job, and of course loved it. They turned out really good and we all devoured them.

Meme gave Amy her old guitar on our last trip. She made Amy promise to learn to play it. When Will is asleep, I let her take it out and strum along. (If Will is awake, he wants to play too and he's way too little to treat it with any kind of care). Right now she's on the back deck, playing for the birds (literally!)

Congrats to Ashley and Ben on little Brooklyn! The poor thing had a little pneumonia on day 1, but she's much better now and got to come home last night. We are so glad you are better Brooklyn!

Grandma heads south today so we are all anxious to see her! Dad told me this morning that her and mom may pay me a visit later this week. Which means I will spend every moment from now until then scrubbing this place! hahaha.

  1. Such a brave mom with those experiments. But it does keep her happy. Another thing you could do is always keep something baking, seems the "screen" of the oven is a winner too. Love always.

  2. Amy looked like she was in her glory trying to playing the guitar. It is larger than she but her smile makes up for the difference. The muffins looked good too--she will be a professional bake by the time she is 10.
As for the cleaning because I'm coming that's not a good idea you trying to pass me up!! You need a rest not more to do. Hope I see you all soon. Much love to all, Gram
