End of October Fun

We had a few fun activities this month!
One morning the kids made skeletons from q-tips and I had a trivia question on the board. They were so funny trying to count how many bones they have!

Will and Tyler found a bug. They couldn't decide if it was a wasp or a yellow jacket. So they wrote down different characteristics of each and compared them to the insect. It was a wasp. It was really cute watching them decode this.

I made rice krispy Frankensteins. Only I made a mess and they looked terrible. It was truly a scary treat!

Frankenstein day. (The boys didn't finish theirs)

I made an all green lunch and she had worn all green that day. Her friends were teasing her that she matched her lunch!

Spider day-

I wrapped their lunches in webs

Talana went with me to the temple one Wednesday. I've been able to go most every week. It's been so great!

Will made a harmonica at Scouts. Lee was thrilled.

The eggs cracked like this one morning. I figured it was going to be a good day.

Tyler created this new hairstyle. He is hilarious about it.

Bat day-

For the Primary program at church, Tyler got all dressed up. He looked a mini version of my dad. This is one kid who likes "looking good."

He stares at himself in every mirror-- including the toaster!

I'm currently in the nursery at church. (sigh....) Will came in one Sunday and read to all the kids.

Playtime with dad.

I have no explanation.

I created this little garden bed by the mailbox. It's 2 bricks thick and I planted tulips in it. We'll see if they bloom in the spring!

Treats for the boys classes...

Will had a vocabulary parade at school. Each kid had to choose any word and then dress as that word. So of the kids were really cute! Will chose SONAR. He wanted to dress as a bat.

While there, we saw Tyler who had come to watch.

Amy acting silly after school.

We went trick or treating Halloween night with the Elams, Stutevilles and Olsens.

The next day I shopped for clearance plants in the windy rain. I found some great deals. :)

We did carve pumpkins one night. I can't remember where Lee was, but in all honesty he was glad to miss the action. Pumpkin carving is not his favorite activity.

And that was October.

The Incredible Halloween Costumes 2018

This year, we were The Incredibles for Halloween. The kids and Lee have been wanting to do this for years and they finally talked me into it.

We hope your Halloween was also Incredible!

MTSU Homecoming 2018

Last year was our first experience with MTSU Homecoming. We loved it so much that we decided to make it a yearly event.

We start in the morning with the parade. I love parades. Lee could probably take or leave them. I also love a marching band. :)

The Chemistry club made ice cream while they walked and handed it out to the crowd. It was really good too!

This bag looks small but it's not. Its a huge bag filled with tons of candy and giveaway type stuff. We loaded up with MTSU Police stuff this year. They recognized Lee and tossed us all sorts of stuff. Frisbees, tshirts, ice packs (with a policeman on it).

While the parade was going on the temperature was deceasing and since everyone was wearing long sleeved tshirts, we thought we'd better run home to get jackets. There was no way we could sit on a cold bleacher, with cold air all around, for the game. We ran home, got everything and came back to campus to do some fun activities. The boys were able to do them. Amy and I got stuck in the caricature line and she didn't get to do anything else. (We also missed out on the caricature because it shut down due to the game starting. So Amy lost out completely :( )

It turns out the run back home was pointless as the sun came out and it was actually hot outside. Well, warm enough we didn't need jackets. It was actually the perfect night for a football game. I don't pretend to know anything about football and afterwards I had a lot of questions for Lee. :)

MTSU won 21-13 against Charlotte.

Go Blue Raiders!!

Grossology, Burning a Stump and Awards for the Boys

We did our Grossology meal the other day. I think I missed it last year. This year provided some gross faces. (Cat food was really spam. Dog treats were Vienna Sausages, Rat poop was Sugar Babies, Raw meat is rice krispy treats with red and blue food coloring, and dead fish is sardines.)

Will actually tried the sardine and I almost hurled. They are lucky their mom has a weak stomach b/c I don't get too crazy with the whole Grossology thing.

Tyler wearing the new vest Granny bought him. He picked it out and LOVES it but he was mad about something. I can't remember what now. He's been mad about a lot in "life" lately.

Amy made a game called Sir-Hoops-A Lot. You have to throw a ball through the hoop. If it hits one of the things on the end, you get the points. I panicked at first thinking she had drawn on the wall. But upon closer inspection, she put a piece of clear tape there first and drew on that.

Will reading from the Ensign for Family Home Evening. I just thought I needed to capture and then keep this image :)

We cut down a dead tree in the front year in early summer. It left the stump and not wanting to rent a stump grinder we just left it to decompose. That was taking too long. So I looked online and decided to try the burning method. You just put charcoal on top, light it and let it slowly burn.

My neighbor came over and said he always does it this way. Then he suggested putting blocks around it (more to ease my own mind) and he let us borrow a piece of tin on top to keep rain out (it was starting to drizzle) and also help keep it contained. It worked like a charm and 2 days later the stump was gone. We still have to dig out a part of it, but this method works wonderfully!  We aren't going to replant anything there. It'll just go back to grass. (and be much easier to cut!)

I've been able to go to the temple almost weekly. It has been so wonderful! I go with a friend of mine's parents (well, they are now my friends as well!) This particular day was absolutely beautiful!

Amy being silly at church one night. He took her long hair and pulled it all forward. She would NOT make an attractive boy!

We were killing time one day and the boys were playing in the backseat. Tyler ended up tying himself up with the seatbelts and tie himself up he did! He was so tangled I wasn't sure how I was going to get him out. I had a thought to just cut him out, but I kept bending and pulling his legs and he eventually got free.

The boys have awards at their school every 9 weeks. Both boys got different awards. Lee and I were both able to go. It's always fun seeing them at school

Tyler's cute class.
