A Few Photos to Finish up June

The boys are wrapping up their kickball season. It's been good for them. Tyler loves every second. Will... he will not be sad when the season is over.

This made me laugh.... the boys 3 friends have been coming over. One day I was gone and Lee sent me this photo. He had to leave (Amy was home) and he said "All 5 boys are making lunch. I'm outta here." I love it though. I love the kids having their friends over. The "boy" smell is a real thing though..... Oh my!

One of the kids favorite games with Meme is this lego one. She counts out 10, 15, 20 random little legos and they have to build something with it. They love trying to get really creative. Even Amy still loves it.

This is the first year my apple tree has fruit. I planted it before I learned how hard is is to grow apple trees in Tennessee. Our humidity, rain fall, drought possibilities, and all sorts of stuff make it rather difficult for the home gardener that doesn't want to spray it constantly. I looked up some organic methods and by golly, one of the ways was to put plastic sandwich bags over the apples. I kid you not! I even though it was a joke so I looked up several more sites and they all said the same thing. So I decided to try it. And it's working!! The baggies have the ends snipped out for airflow, but they are growing nicely inside their little homes. And are pest free, you can even see a tussock moth that was trying to get to the apple. Nope! Sorry! You can't eat here! I kept some uncovered to see the difference. It's a little early to tell, but so far it's been a fun experiment.

Amy should be getting her braces off soon and Will will go right into them. He was such a sport as we went to two different ortho's getting their opinions on treatments. He'll need a lot of work done in his middle school years, but he should be braces free come high school. The xray of his teeth and head are always fun to see. He still has a lot of baby teeth!

Our friend Marion Johnson was in town and stopped by for a visit. It's always fun to see her. And that's wraps up June! We head to Anna's for the 4th of July and we are all excited about that!

 

Sarah and The Master Gardeners

For several months I've been doing a lot of Master Gardener events and it's been so great. No masks, no social distancing, enjoying gardens, life feels almost back to normal.

There was a month long scavenger hunt and for the finale it was fun when a few of my photos were featured. I tied for 1st place and that was awesome. I went all over the state trying to win that thing! My prize (other than bragging rights) was a state park tshirt.

We;'ve also been on a few garden tours.

I've been also been volunteering at the Farmers Market which has been fun as well. It's great to be among gardeners!

Will Turns 11

 Will turned 11! Can you even believe it? We certainly can't.

For his big day, he wanted McDonald's pancakes for breakfast. Lee and I got up early to take him. (He's been in a summer school/camp program all month and still had to go on his birthday.)

For dinner we went to Nachos- of course!

When they came to sing to him, they whistled SO LOUD. We all thought we were getting bombed. It scared him a little bit. haha.

Back at home he opened a few presents. He wanted cupcakes (which I bought) but then never ate them. Silly boy.

His favorite candy right now is Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, so we wrapped them.

A new video game....

The other thing he wanted was a gaming chair. Which is just a fancy office chair. That came a few days later and he was pretty excited.

Happy 11th Birthday Will!!!! We certainly love you!! 

Sarah and Amy Go To Girls Camp

I got the awesome opportunity to be a chaperone at the church's Girls Camp this past week. It was AWESOME. It was the perfect week. Perfect girls, perfect weather, perfect camp- it was an amazing week. I took it all in and just had a great time. Girls Camp is a yearly camp for church. All young women aged girls can go (ages 12-18.) We have fun time, we have spiritual time, we have a blast. It's not for the weary though! I counted it up and got around 15 hours of sleep TOTAL for the week. And felt fine!.... until I got home! But it was SO much fun. I wanted to remember these moments!

The girls sand "A Child's Prayer".... it was beautiful!

Millie and Zoe Solomon were officially adopted the day before camp. They have been fostered for several years and we couldn't be more excited that the adoption finally went through. So we had a "We are Glow-ing with Excitement" party for them complete with glowsticks, disco ball and lots of laughter.

We go each year to a place called Latimer Reservation. It's just gorgeous!

Each year they have a sunrise hike. The girls get up at 4:30am and walk to this beautiful overlook and wait for the sun to come up. It's so gorgeous!

I brought Grandma's Daisy to wake the girls up each morning. It was a quite a hit! And I loved that a piece of Grandma with me.

We went on this mountain bike ride. It was.... extreme to say the least. We got a little lost and ended up going up hill, down hill, over trees, under branches.... it was insane. The ride didn't phase Millie as she was leading the pack and hardly got off her bike. She was a trooper! Maylee was too. Oh the young! I was laughing with Millie about how fast she was. She said "Well, it's probably because I'm young and you're just a little bit old." hahahahaha. She is so funny! 

These cute girls wrote a camp song. They did an amazing job!
