My 24 Hours Away

The stake Relief Society (woman's organization at church) here has a 'night away' for the women every year. I was really excited to go! I wanted to get to know the ladies in my ward better, but I'll admit, the time away from my little kiddos was really the draw..... (love them, but mommy needed a break)

It's held at a place called Camp Nanawaka. This sweet couple owns it. It's acres and acres of beautiful landscape, a smallish private lake, lots of cabins, they cook (and clean up!) for you... it was wonderful. And I don't think we could have picked a better weekend. Look how beautiful!!!!

The rest of the pictures are of the wonderful ladies from my ward that went. I knew I moved to the right place when we were the last cabin awake (we made it until 2am) and laughed until our sides hurt.

Jennifer and her sis in law (not pictured) moved extra beds
into our cabin so all 18 of us could sleep together.

Emily, Stacey (with little Eliza) and Liz
I was really surprised when I looked around a big room on day 1 to see an old friend. Amber Boylston! (well, she's married now, but I don't know her married name) Her and her family are temporarily living with her parents in the next town over. It was fun to see an old friend! I've know her since childhood, but hadn't seen her in years and years.

Amber and Jennifer became fast friends when they teamed up together and won the canoe race

Some of us. (I'm in the back row, at the top)

Paddle boating was fun on that beautiful lake!
This isn't me, but I did go out with a girl named Beth.
I was afraid to bring my camera in case we tipped over!

Our cabin was tight with 18 beds. But we figured there was room for more next year!

All in all it was a nice and relaxing 24 hours. We mostly sat around and talked- which is what women do best. And with no kids interruptions.... well, that was the best thing!! Check out time was 4pm on Saturday, and many women left after lunch. But not us! We stayed until 4pm on the dot! haha. Then 5 of us went to dinner. We were trying to squeeze out every minute that we could!

About that time though. I did start to miss the kids and Lee. It's always nice to be greeted with huge cries of "Mom!!!!!" when you enter the house! The kids were good for Lee. But I think he was probably ready for my return as well. :)
