I Have Issues..... My Friends Now Know It

My awesome ward here has a book club. I've gone for the past few months and loved it. This month, we read "1776" by David McCullough. And I got to host!!

Now, I wasn't a fan of the book, only because I'm not a history buff. The history buffs loved it. So to each his own. But I figured it was an easy "theme" and I went to town. (oh darn, I just realized I forgot to break out the sparklers!)

Popcorn, Cupcakes, candy

Inside the cupcakes looked like this....

Striped jello, apples and dip. And then 2 other people brought strawberries and cookies.
We had a feast!

Any reason to serve Hawaiian Punch....

I made some "subway art"

Everyone loved it! And teased me mercilessly! They recently found out that I have my own disco ball and they like to tease me about that too. haha. They are so funny. Then they decided that "1776" was too easy of a theme for me and next time they will make sure I'm thoroughly "challenged." But it was fun. Most didn't leave until 11:30pm!! WOW! That was the longest book club has ever lasted! (and I'm feeling it today!!)

The kids stayed with Lee in our bedroom. Well, for the most part. Will learned a new trick yesterday- how to open doors!! So he escaped and sat in my lap for awhile, until I put him to bed. Then Amy came out around 10:30 and sat in my lap for awhile. (She had been asleep, I guess our laughter woke her up) I think it's hilarious that both of my children are just like me- they don't want to miss any action!

(I'm convinced that if Aunt Donna and I lived in the same city- it would explode of wonderful party goodness! Hey, maybe we should start our own company!!)

This wasn't from the party, but it was earlier in the day when I gave him some M&M's in a bowl. He was so happy! Such a cutie!! Oh- and Aunt Lynn, you asked what he was doing during the robot building. He was napping for part of it, the other he just sat in his chair and watched us.

I hope you have a great weekend! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON!!

  1. What a good job. Glad I don't belong in your club and have to top that. Glad to know Will wasn't locked in a room somewhere. I shudder to think what kind of damage you and Donna could do together. Now that she has her new large capacity cotton candy machine. But it would be a great business. Keep reading, (although I don't know when you have the time) Like I told your mom, I read either yours or her blog and I have to take a nap. Love always.
