Saturday morning Lee volunteered to go with the youth at church on a temple trip. That means he had to be at the church at 6am! That's early on a Saturday! But he was home by 11:30, so that was nice. He went straight down for a nap! Will was also down, so Amy and I walked down the street to a moving sale. And guess what we found??
A dresser... for $5! FIVE dollars! Can you believe it!? I couldn't! I can't believe it didn't sell earlier that day. So it was destined- it was mine. We ran home, got the van, and went back to get it. One of the drawers was a little stuck (maybe that's why no one else took it?) but a little gorilla glue and a hammer fixed that and now it works just perfectly. I've been wanting one for Amy, and since it was just going in her closet, I didn't really care what it looked like. But this one is really nice. I mean, its not Pottery Barn or anything, but its nice enough.
Amy also scored a new dress-up dress and fairy wings. They need a little mending, but it's nothing too complicated. For $ .50, it was worth it. And Amy has worn them non-stop. Her poses crack me up, she comes up with them on her own!
And I've been preparing a little for Halloween. Actually, I saw these adorable ghosts online and knew I had to make them. We are now invaded by spooks......!
That's about it for now. We are kind of being lazy! (which I love!)
Looks like great buys for everyone. Love the princess/fairy maybe modeling or being a photographer and knowing how to pose the subject in her future. I'm glad you had a quiet time, I always feel like I need to take a nap after I read your blog. By the way, we are finally done the family room. Last room we ever paint (ourselves) still have to do window treatments, but the furniture is all in and although I think the sofa may be a little bigger than I thought in the store, I still love it. And the color of the walls is just what I wanted. Kind of like a chocolate milkshake. Steve is cleaning the dining room carpet as I write so everything should be back in place by lunch tomorrow. Love always.
ReplyDeleteHey! That looks like a very nice dresser! I love getting the PB magazines and then creating what they did for a lot less...I say it was a great find! Great deal on the fairy costume too...and the ghosts are so CUTE! So you've now inspired me to venture out and check out the garage sales...of course we probably should have one first...ha, ha!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got a good deal on the dresser. One can always use a few extra drawers..I like Amy's fairy dress too and can see she is enjoying it. The ghosts are really cute. What did Will think of them when he saw them? I bet Lee really needed a nap after getting out so early. That's even earlier than I get out. Glad all are well and enjoying the new digs.
ReplyDeleteLove to you all, Gram
Looks like you have been busy as usual. All your finds were terriffic. The dresser could be redone if you are ever bored. Though I doubt that would happen. And the ghosts are my favorite. Have Amy fly down to see her MEME.
