Our Week and What a Week It's Been!

This was our last week with Savannah.... and it was supposed to just be Monday and Tuesday. But Holly (her mom) called Monday and said she wouldn't be there that day b/c Savannah was sick. No big deal, I figured it was a cold or something, whatever.

So Monday (and some of Tuesday morning) I spent packing stuff. We decided to have our yard sale this weekend, mainly because I could hardly get into Will's room, so I needed to separate stuff, etc. We've had no problem getting boxes, apparently when you say, "We are moving," box offers come out of the woodwork. Hmmm.... just being nice or shooing us away????

This is what happens when Amy finds your shoes. She loves to tie knots!!

So Tuesday comes along, Savannah is feeling better. The day progresses and I ask her what she had the day before. "I was throwing up," she said. Immediately my 'mom' radar went up. I had to go to Savannah's house for a few minutes when her siblings got off the bus, and while waiting on their mom to get home, Miles (one of Savannah's brothers) mentions how he was also throwing up all weekend. Again- my 'mom' radar files that away... this time I was a little more concerned....

Holly gave us their old booster chair for Will, so on Wednesday, I decided to put him at the table with us. I also made a delicious new dinner recipe, Tortellini Spinach Bake (click the words for the recipe in case you are interested). It was really good. Lee loved it, Will loved it, Amy didn't eat it (no surprise there). Will loved being at the table with all of us- I don't think the video really captures all of his squeals, and it was definitely fun to have everyone together instead of him off to the side somewhere in his high chair.

The mess under Will's chair. Apparently throwing carrots on the floor is fun to him, so he tried the napkin too. Isn't gravity a cool thing!!??!!

BUT then...... donnnn... donnnnnn.... donnnn...... 11pm hit. My stomach was really hurting. I was exhausted, and when I'm overly tired I do feel sick. So I figured that's what it was. Lee kept telling me to fall asleep but I couldn't. About an hour later.... in comes Amy- also complaining that her stomach hurts. We played musical beds- Lee went to Amy's and her and I chilled in ours. A little while after that- I started throwing up. A little while after that- Amy started throwing up. Lovely. We got back in bed, only for an hour later her to throw up again- this time IN our bed. Double lovely. We didn't sleep all night. It was awful.

Thankfully Lee is home all day on Thursday's, because I literally slept the entire day. I felt so awful. Amy seemed to be better, so that was good. I did make it onto the couch a few times, but not for very long. Let's just say that Lee and Will spent some quality daddy/son time! I got a lot of sleep last night, and for the most part I'm feeling better today. At least I've been able to keep all my food down. So far, Will doesn't have it, and I hope he doesn't get it! He hasn't eaten much, and he's really fussy, so who knows.

Right now Amy is 'creating' stuff on the kitchen floor. She loves making presents for people and who knows- you just may be the recipient of one of her creations! She's very specific about who things are to be sent to.

Oh- and mom- you'll love this.....
So for a few years now, we have had a marker in our shower.

Whenever mom is here, she makes a comment about it. The story behind the marker is when we first moved here, I was in the shower and Amy came into the bathroom and said, "Mom, can I color with this marker?" Foreseeing lots of thick, black marks I said "Oh no honey" and took it from her. Since I was in the middle of my shower, I just placed it in the corner, intending to get it later. Well, there it has sat for almost 2 years. At first I did intend to get it down, but by the time my shower ended, I always forgot about it again. Then I guess we just got used to seeing it, so there it sat.

This morning I was making the signs for our yard sale and I said to myself, "I know I have a thick permanent marker... where is that thing??" Then the light bulb came on- in the shower, of course!! And there it was! So how's that for just leaving things where they are!!??! hahaha.

Anyhow- that's been our week. How has yours been??

(Oh and two sidenotes.... although I can't control it- I am a little irritated at Holly for not giving me a heads up about her kids having the stomach flu. I know her final was important, but seriously?? A little warning would've been nice. And #2- while that dinner was good-  I told a very disappointed Lee that I wouldn't be making it again for a long while. I can't even look at those pictures without my stomach churning. So if you make it, please invite him over. He'd be very grateful!)

  1. Well, start with if you had moved that marker you wouldn't have had it for the sign. Our week was FULL seems like so much going on every day, but I did have a better week than you anyway. Mon. I had my appt with the oncologist, Thurs. had a CT scan just to check and today EVERYTHING IS FINE all blood levels fine and no sign of the cancer. I think the dinner sounds great. Steve would be with Amy. Hope the rest of the gang excapes the flu. Love always.

  2. Glad your flu was gone as I enjoyed talking with you this afternoon. Has Will escaped the flu? He was taking a nap when I talked with you so I hope he is ok. It sure looked like the kids had a blast with all the boxes. That is the best toy anyone has ever been exposed to. Hope all goes well with your yard sale. Love to you all, Gram
