Today started off with Storytime. We do miss Mrs. Melanie (who was also our friend from church) in Petal. This storytime is much bigger and a little wilder. They have a puppet show theatre set up and Amy enjoyed that. She also completed her summer reading program and got the prizes for that. We just signed up last week and it ends tomorrow- so we managed to finish it in a week!
Then there was going to be a "Splash Out" at a local park. The fire department turned on a hydrant and let the kids run wild! They were also throwing around frisbees, and we scored a few of those.
Amy was too shy, at first, to go by herself. So I had to take her in. Oh, the job of being a mother!
Will and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Amy warmed up and had no problems running around. It really was quite fun!
My foot kept hurting and I kept looking in my shoe... I finally found a little thing poking though and I just thought my shoe was falling apart. (I wasn't paying too much attention). Finally I felt underneath and saw this THORN stuck in my shoe. No wonder it was hurting so badly!! It was so tough that I couldn't even break the thorn from the stick.

After about 30 minutes of playtime, you could see the clouds darkening. We still had to run to the store, so we opted to leave. Just as we got the car, you could see huge dirt clouds blowing through (from a local quarry) and the wind got insane. They shut down the splash-out and we forego-ed our trip to the store and came home instead. Now it's pouring rain. Which I guess is good, since it's been so dry!
But for the little while we were there, the Splash Out was something different and a lot of fun!
All looked like it was loads of fun! They do that here in the city on really hot days and it always looks like people are enjoying it. Not only the kids but most of the (adults) look like they are enjoying the need to be in too with their kids. Keep cool. Love Gram
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time. I am sorry you had to suffer and get wet with your children. MMmmmmm. It definitely has been hot hot HOT. I bet the fire department gets a kick out of it too.
