Anyhow- not vaccinating is a hot topic, especially with doctors. So although I've only been to the pediatrician a few times, I can feel their eyes on me from the moment I walk in the door.
Story: A few weeks ago I went to change Will's diaper and I noticed what looked like bruises and dried blood on and around his belly button. It looked a lot like a newborns, but with bruising. It was 4:45pm on a Friday and I freaked. Oh my gosh! His belly button is bleeding! The umbilical wound has opened back up and it's leaching! and on and on. I almost rushed him to the ER- and then thought, "No, that'll take hours. Oh- the Dr's office is still open- I'll call them." So I call, the sweet receptionist took my info and said she'd have the nurse call me back. As I'm waiting on her return phone call, I start rubbing the "wound." It comes off. Then I get a q-tip and more comes off. Soon I realize that it's nothing other than.... chocolate. I feel like a moron. The nurse calls me back, and I'm laughing... she's laughing... I'm sure she told all of her friends at dinner. (HOW the chocolate got down his shirt, lodged and melted all over his belly button is still a mystery)
Fast forward to today.... For the past 2 weeks, every so often Will pulls on his ear. He's had no fever, he's always happy... but he tugs his ears, which is usually the sign of an ear infection. I've used some homeopathic drops and tried my never fail cure of alcohol drops- he still tugged on his ears. I finally caved and took him to the doctor. (I hesitated b/c I hate these little guys being on antibiotics at such a young age). She took a good hard look at both ears, and nope. No infection. She checked all over him- he's in perfect health. I was like, "Well, I feel dumb!" She said, "He probably just found his ears and likes to play with them."
Of course it's better to be safe than sorry. But I had to laugh because here is this doctor- who already thinks what she thinks because of the anti-vaccination thing. But then there's the chocolate thing, and now the ear infection thing- that she reads in his chart and I'm convinced she thinks I'm the dumbest mom in the planet. And what's worse is that I'm not even a new mom (new mom's typically do this sort of stuff). Anyways- I really don't care what she thinks of me, but I find the whole thing quite amusing. And to top the whole thing off- I'm blonde. Grandpa would love this story....!
So that killed an hour or our day. But we did made it to the end of story time- that was good. Amy and Savannah played for a few hours after that. Their favorite thing lately is the coloring sheet. It's a big sheet that I traced pictures on that they can color with washable markers. (Nephews and Niece- one is coming soon for you)
That's about it. The weather is glooooorious!! So we've just been enjoying it!

- You are a posting maniac! I had just been on here not 5 minutes ago watching the Will videos and decided I had to watch them again with Adeline. She loved them too and just smiled the whole time while watching Will laugh. Anyways.... this post is pretty funny too. Chocolate??? How did you get that mixed up with blood??! Adeline had the same issue with her ears when she was smaller. Our doctor told us some kids just like pulling on their ears and she was one of them! Glad to hear you guys enjoyed this wonderful weather too! Love you!
