Monticello Trip

The conference ended and we woke up the next day and headed to Monticello! I have been wanting to go here and the family went along for the ride. It was a cool place! Unfortunately it was raining a bit, so we didn't get to spend as much time as I would have wanted. But we had several umbrellas in the car so we braved what we could.

Of course I took a lot of picture of flowers :)

This mirror has been in the house since Jefferson bought it. Imagine all the people that have looked in it over the years!

His bed chamber measures 6 feet 3 inches. He was 6 feet 2 inches tall. Apparently he didn't like wasting space.

The holes above are a closet. The door leads to a ladder that goes up there. Again, he didn't like wasting space so he put his closet above his bed.

Admiring the original books.

In front of a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

This is the back of the house. But the entrance you arrive at for the tour.

Lee's shirt says, "Crap, that's due tomorrow?" Thomas Jefferson, July 3, 1776  He got many comments!

The kids playing kick ball at our Air BNB

Heading to our Air BNB we spotted a Wegmans. We LOVE Wegmans. So we had to stop. We had everyone pick out dinner there. When my grandfather came south, he always went to Waffle House. When we head north, we always stop at Wegmans.
