Isolation Week Three

Things are becoming routine around here. This is technically our spring break week so the kids don't have any assignments. Our school system is working on online school that will be up and running next week. We had great weather all week though, so lots of outdoor time. Which we all love.

March 29, day 14:
It was just a gorgeous Sunday. We had church at home

When Lee and I left to bring the Sacrament to some friends, Will made this character. I love seeing their imaginations at work.

Amy loves playing the newly tuned piano!

March 30, day 15:
Today will be known as "TOMATO PLANT DAY." I sowed a bunch of seeds awhile back and it was time for them to be potted up.

Do you have any guesses as to how many plants I have?

If you guessed 322 you were correct. Yes, 322! I could not believe it. I will be planting as many as possible and then try to sell/give away any others. I planted 14 different varieties.

The kids kept fighting with each other and the neighbor. So I made them each write an essay about why we shouldn't fight. Surprisingly, they didn't fight about that.

I didn't get a photo of Amy's. Surprisingly though, they've all been less argumentative overall.

March 31, day 16:
We have been using the Gospel Living app in the youth group to share a daily photo prompt. One day it was crazy socks.

The conversation at breakfast went something like this:
Tyler: Mom, what day is it?
Me: March 31st.
Tyler: Will, it's March 31st!
Will: Its March 31st?
Tyler: It's the 31st!
Will: It's the 31st!

I thought for sure they were excited because the next day would be April Fools and Amy has been talking about pranking them while they've been talking about retaliation.

But no. Apparently, Lee told the boys they would eat out on March 31st, so they've been counting down. Of course, when he made that promise he had no idea most everywhere would be closed down.

The boys decided they wanted Chinese and were able to order from Panda Express and have Lee pick it up on the way home. When I ordered, the quantity of spring rolls wasn't clear. The picture had 3 in in, so I ordered 2 orders (thinking that would be 6.) Well, when Lee got home there were THIRTY! 30 spring rolls! We couldn't believe it. We also had 6 egg rolls (again the picture showed 1.) So needless to say, we had leftovers.

April 1, day 17:
Amy and I started off the day with an allergy shot. Then we went to Lowe's. I needed just a bit more soil for my raised beds and I wanted it before they shut everything down. (Which was good because they did that the next day.)

Amy's only "prank" of the day was covering Lee's closet and the boys beds with sticky notes. Of course part of me went "Ah! That's wasting sticky notes!" But it was fine. Everyone laughed at her.

Oh and she threw cold water on Will while he was in the shower. That was pretty funny.

My friend Marsha sent the kids a package. A few 3D alligator puzzle things and a stuffed animal named "Amy Alligator." That was really sweet of her. Amy loved putting it together.

Amy and I broke out the sewing machine to make face masks. A local hospital needed some, which was our original plan. But I wanted to make some for ourselves and Anna's family as well. So I'm not sure how many the hospital will get. Oops!

Amy also made a workout routine to the tv shows The Office and Parks n Rec. It was a fun workout and a great idea!

April 2, day 18:
The Governor shut down the state today. So while we have been following the isolation guidelines, we are really shut down now. You can still go to the store and Lee can go to work (he's considered essential. Although he only goes 1-2 days a week.)

The Lunaria is in full bloom. It's also called silver dollar plant. It will also get large seed pods that are silvery. It's really pretty.

We went on a bike ride up and down our street at sunset. It was a beautiful evening. We are trying to get Tyler to ride a two-wheeler but he isn't there yet. I can't wait for when he does though.

April 3, day 19:
Amy logged into her school account to see if anything was there and it turned out two of her teachers (well, her Science teacher from 6th grade, Ms Thomas and her current Science teacher, Ms Fish) were both on testing it out. She was so excited to see and talk to them. They are both great ladies and I love that she has a relationship with them.

The boys have taken to playing baseball. They are inspired by the movie and call this area "The Sandlot."

I made masks. I was going to donate them but ended up needed them all for family. Which I was happier about.

A friend dropped off her yummy cookies and some oranges. Yes, we socially distanced. But it was nice to see another face!

April 4 and 5, days 20 and 21:
We took a break from everything and enjoyed General Conference.
