Thanksgiving Tour 2019

We headed to GA for our Thanksgiving tour last week. While we packed up, Amy and Tyler pretended to surf on the mulch piles.

Once in GA, I built a raised garden bed for mom. This is where her straw bales were last year but she's decided to convert it to a dirt bed. Because the raised bed (made from scrap lumber from their deck) was the exact same size, we were able to keep the poles and such exactly in place.

We filled it with leaves which will break down over the next few months and turn into the best fertilizer. I was laughing at her as it looked like she was doing a workout routine.

Will lost another tooth.

Lee played football with the kids (while I was building the bed)

This was Lee and Will's football pose.

And this was Amy and Tyler's. Typical Tyler.

We've nicknamed the porch addition "The Parthenon." This thing is huge. And if you know my father, it's not going anywhere. It looks really great though and they'll really enjoy the space.

On Thanksgiving morning Lee and I did the Marietta Gobble Jog. Along with over 10,000 other people. It's the 7th largest Thanksgiving day race in the country. Just a fun fact for ya. It also raises over a half million dollars for a great charity in Cobb County named MUST Ministries. We loved it. It may need to become a tradition.

After the race we headed out to Bowdon to Lee's family. The kids always have a great time playing together.

Cindy showed Amy how to crochet (something she's been wanting to learn.)

This photo makes me laugh. I don't know why. I guess because everyone is always on their phones.

Sadly, we thought to take this AFTER Lee's mom had left. (sigh) I don't know why I can't ever remember these things when everyone is there.

Black Friday morning, Dad and I made our usual trip to Home Depot to get our poinsettias. This year mom joined us as they were in the market for a new washer and dryer. Their finally bit the dust the night before. Unfortunately, they don't have them in stock so they still had to wait a few days to get them.

So mom and I took a trip to a local laundrymat. It's hard to be without a washer when you run an Air BNB! (Just the washer died, we were still able to dry things at home.)

Then the Allen's showed up! And we never saw a kid again. Well, that's not really true.

They decorated Christmas trees, courtesy of Uncle Steve.

And if any device was out, you could find them gathered.

But aside from that, we never saw much of them. There were very little tears as well, which is always nice. For the most part, the kids played, Dad worked, Lee and Stratton, well, I don't know what they did and Mom, Anna and I hung out.

Anna and I walked the girls up to the Square. (Mom stayed with all the little boys. Brave lady!)

And we ran into these guys who had walked there for breakfast, were detoured around the Farmers Market (Stratton loves that place) and on their way home.

Us girls stopped and ate a cupcake at a really good local place. They even won Cupcake Wars a few years ago. (I had a slice of cheesecake and it was equally delicious!)

"Fun Aunt Sarah" isn't really catching on with the Allen kids. So I'm trying to win them over with candy.

We left Saturday evening and let me tell you- that house was a disaster. Since the kids had taken over the place, mom, Anna and I had been hiding out in mom's bedroom talking. I went back into the living room and went "Whoa!" haha. Stuff was everywhere. We walked outside to see Dad just sitting on the porch. He had a look of "I'm not going in there." It was so funny.

And with that, the trip was over. It was quick but always fun to see most of each of our families. Now it's back to the routine!
