On Nov 12 we got our first SNOW. Well, 'snow' being a relative term. But it was icy.
So icy that I slipped down our stairs, never seeing the ice, and landed on the corner of the cement stairs directly on my tailbone. Needless to say, I was in a great deal of pain. I slowly crawled to the couch and stayed there for several days.
One of those days being Lee's 45th birthday! I felt so bad that I was laid up. But the boys created a balloon hiding scavenger hunt type thing for him. Tyler had a blast and giggled the entire time Lee was 'hunting' all the balloons.
Happy Birthday Lee! (yep, taken from my view on the couch!)
I didn't have time to be injured so after a few days I had to force myself up and about. I did go to the doctor and luckily nothing was broken. Instead all the tendons and such were roughed up and that was causing all the pain. Luckily it was only terrible if I was sitting. So I could stand, walk or lay down just fine. I spent a few days laying down and after that I got up as much as I could.
One thing on the agenda was a field trip with Will. It was a walking tour of Nashville. They let me drive Will myself (instead of him riding the bus) so we parked in a parking garage and tried not to get lost. It started off a cold and dreary day and then turned into a slightly warmer and clear day.
The State Capitol
Will with his friends Lucas and Brayden
Will lost a tooth during the trip... right in the middle of the tour guide talking about Sam Davis. Of course I didn't think he would lose a tooth, so I was completely unprepared. I gave him the hat he was wearing to stick in his mouth, he washed it out with gatorade and I stuck his tooth in my pocket. (sigh)
Will's class (he's at the top left)
One of the things downtown Nashville has is a huge map of Tennessee. All the counties and a lot of the cities are marked. So of course we found Christiana! (We were surprised it was on there!)
Hmmm..... how do we get back to our car???
Oh, this way, I think we climbed like 300 steps, at least that's where we lost count.
But we made it back and got home just in time to get Tyler from school. It was a wonderful day. I love Nashville and it was fun to walk around places I hadn't been before.
The kids were reluctant to wake up one morning so as they all got out of bed they headed for the couch and curled up together. I love Amy's annoyed face.
I've become a fierce composter. I have 3 bins that will rotate. Exciting times! Oh and I also just found out I was accepted into the Master Gardeners program!! I am beyond excited. Classes start in February.
I bought whole assorted nuts and the kids went 'nuts' about them. We keep the bowl on the kitchen table and they've been so funny about it.
Amy's archery tournaments have started. Last year she never broke 200 but this year the first competition she got 214 and the next she got 243. So she's improving a lot! (It's out of 300) She's so cute, isn't she?
The boys got new church suits. They loved looking so fancy.
The big tv wasn't working one day so I set the boys up watching the new Book of Mormon videos on a laptop.
After church, we needed something for them to do. So given it was Nov 24th, I thought it was time for the kids to carve the pumpkins. They had different ways of doing this..... Amy and Tyler tossed their off the porch to see how many pieces they could get it to break into. Will got a sharp knife and carefully and thoughtfully carved his. It always make me laugh how different they are.
Tyler has had a wiggly tooth for a few days. By Sunday night we were all tired of him whining about it. So we enacted AMY- who is the tooth puller of the family.
I love his face!
She wasn't able to get it. So the next morning, when he was whining again, Lee and I held him down and Amy yanked it out. Amazingly he was happy again. Teeth are falling out around here like crazy!
