What I Did On My Day Off

I had to run a few errands on Saturday morning and when I left, Lee said, "Don't hurry back." Ahhh, what a guy! He knew I needed a break from the kiddos. As I was driving around, I got the sudden urge to get a haircut. No thought, no planning, just do it. So I did.

It's a little short, but I'm a firm believer in the "it takes 2 weeks for a new haircut to look good" rule. Lee was shocked, but he likes it. I'm glad he does because I'm stuck with it!

I'm also been in the market for some curtains for our living room. I need 8 panels, so that can get very pricey, very quickly. I don't want the kind of curtain that everyone has. I want something fun and full of color. I wandered into World Market (if you ever need to buy me a gift, anything from there would be welcomed. I LOVE that store!) and I saw a few that I liked, and were in my price range. I didn't buy any yet, but took pictures to ponder it awhile. Which do you like? (you can double click the picture to see it a little bigger)

They are a bit lighter in color, in person. The store lighting plus the camera phone made it a bit dark. #2 is the only white one, but I thought it was cool with the see-through tree and green birds on it. Anyways, those are just some options. I still want to go to Ikea and see if anything there floats my boat.

While I was gone, Lee was determined to get a picture of Will. He moves so fast now that it's hard to get one! He also got a much needed haircut this morning!

And these are some pictures of the kids that I haven't posted yet.

I've been refinishing a dresser. It's actually the match (the shorter part with the mirror over it side) to the dresser I refinished years ago. Mom and Dad don't need it in their new house, so she passed it onto me. I was lucky that I found the same stain I used years ago! I saved the can! Thank heavens! Anyway- I was sanding it down and Amy wanted to help. So after I'd sand, she wiped the dust off with a dry cloth. It was freezing out this day- but she was a trooper and helped until the end.

(the dresser isn't finished yet. I have to find drawer pulls that will match the size holes that are already drilled)

You can't see the puddle of water on the floor, but it's there. Will can finally reach the water on the fridge and he was extremely excited about it, as he's been reaching and stretching for awhile now. Thank goodness there's a lock on it- or I have a feeling that the floor would be wet all the time!

I let Amy color with my 'special markers' (code for ones I don't normally want her to play with). She decided that my shoe made a good marker holder.

That's it for now. I've been fairly sick all week so my motivation is way down. I'm hoping this will soon end and my energy can pick back up again soon! I know it will, in time.

  1. Wow! Love the hair sis! It's looks great! How fun that it was completely unplanned. I love all of your choices of curtains you picked out too. I agree.. World Market is a great store. If I had to narrow it down I would say that #3,4,and 5 are my favorites and #5 is my most favorite. I love the colors- it's different than your usual palette and I think would add a lot of pop around a window.

  2. I love the hair. What a cute style and it looks easy. Isn't it wonderful when kids learn new things? I'm looking for panels for my patio door as well. People are always saying go to Ikea. They forget we live in the shopping sewer of America. And I never even heard of World Market. I'd like something a little different too, although I'm not sure quite as bold as you seem to go. I know my sister is going to comment about that but I can't change much at this late stage of the game. I'm going to go back to the page and study some more. I'll let you know if I make a choice. Love always.

  4. I too love the hair cut. I always did like you with short hair! I bet it is nice and easy to take care of too. I wish I had enough hair to wear it that way. If I get any thinner on top I'll be bald and I'm not kidding. Oh well I at least have a little so shouldn't complain. I would have to see the fabric and feel it before I could say which one I like. I will say they all look a lot braver than I would be.. Thanks for all the great pictures. Hope you feel better real soon. Love to you all. Gram
