Saturday Happenings

Yesterday Amy came up to me and said, "Mom, I drew a animal and you have to guess what it is. It starts with a S and slithers on the ground. And it's not a snake." I couldn't think of a single thing! Then she told me it had a shell. I guessed a turtle, thinking she had the wrong start letter. "No mom, turtles walk they don't slither. And they start with a T, not an S." She had a similar response to everything I guessed. Although nothing I guessed started with S or slither. So then I thought she was tricking me, and it really was a snake. "No." Can you guess what it was??

A Snail! You probably guessed it. I had no idea. But I liked her drawings! (under the "big mommy one" (yes, I'm getting a complex her 'mommies' are always big. I need to start running again!) is a little tiny baby snail. Just thought I'd point that out)

This cracked me up. One of Lee's main complaints about Mississippi is the road conditions. There are a LOT of potholes, cracks, unevenness, etc. So I died laughing when I saw them repaving our road. Lee said, "Yeah. The week before we leave they finally repave. It figures!"

Will and Amy were eating Tootsie Roll pops (leftover from the reunion) Will thought sticking it Amy's hair was hilarious. Amy didn't care for it too much.

Tonight my dear friends Monica and Keri threw us a little going away party. Surprisingly the weather was nice, especially after the sun set.

Of course, leave it to my kids to find the animals. Amy would NOT leave this poor cat alone. And Will was enamored with the dog. Maybe one day they'll break us down and we'll eventually get a pet.

Savannah, Amy, and Twinkie- the cat.
I love this picture.

We ate and played water baseball (where the bases are water). YES I played. And YES both times I was tagged out at 1st base. What can I say?? At least I hit the ball- which was a surprise to me! And the one time it was batted towards me when I was in the field, I screamed and said, "Oh- don't hit it towards me!" Lee had a blast- I think that's the most fun he's had since being here.

(I wasn't taking these pictures)
Although we won't miss this state, we will definitely miss these people! We have some wonderful friends here!

  1. What wonderful pictures. It is the hardest part of moving, leaving people you have grown fond of. I'm still amazed at Amy's drawing. So much detail, and you are not big. Moms are just big in kids eyes because they are so important. That poor cat looks like it needed a rest or was being choked and couldn't breath. Just don't let them get a duck gram will attest to that. Love always.

  2. The party looked like everyone was having a great time. We always had fun playing baseball in our yard. You probably remember that Sarah. We never had the fun idea of using water for bases--was that your idea Sarah? I'll have to pass that one on to the rest of the gang. I am so impressed with Amy and her drawings. Keep her interested!! It looked like Will was enjoying his pet too. I would only buy a duck for my worst enemy and then would feel guilty--they are only for a farm. Glad Lee enjoyed the party too. I bet he was almost in shock when he saw them paving your street. The good things always happen when you leave. Love to you all. Gram

  3. No, I didn't think of the water baseball idea. That was all Monica. Although I've heard of it before. It was their way of hosting an outdoor party during a MS summer. haha. First base was a sprinkler and 2nd and 3rd base were kiddie pools. It was a lot of fun and everyone loved it.

yes- that poor cat ran for the hills every chance she could. I was really glad when it got dark and Amy couldn't 'find' it anymore. haha
