Goodbye at the Meyer's

And the goodbye's start! I was sitting in Sunday School yesterday when it hit me that we were leaving. I was looking around the room, and realized that next week I'd be sitting with a new group of people. And I did get a little sad. I really do love the people here and after 3 years- you really have a history with them. I know we'll make new friends and will feel the same way about them. But I am sad about the ones we are leaving behind. Like Aunt Lynn said, that's the hardest part of moving!

The Meyers had us over last night. Karen made a taco dip and an apple dip. What a great meal that was! Easy, delicious and filling! We just love the Meyers and we will definitely miss them! (especially around conference time. I haven't watched General Conference without them in 3 years!)

They have a bunch of animals, despite Karen's distaste for them. Mostly chickens, and yes Grandma, even ducks. haha! Amy always gets excited to go over there because she knows she can play with animals- and there is always something new.

Last night it was a tiny baby chick! It was really brand-new- Rod didn't even know they were there. Which prompted Karen to say "We are going in the wrong direction, Rod. We are supposed to be getting rid of the chickens, not hatching new ones."

They also brought out one of their ducks. Amy couldn't decide whether to pet the duck or hold the chick. Oh! Decisions!!

Needless to say, Amy was in her glory. I also brought over some sparklers. Their sons (and eventually Amy) loved these!

Amy picked up a used one by the hot end and burned across her little fingers. Wow she can scream! Oh my! She's fine and there's barely a mark but if you talked to her you'd think her hand burned off. As you can tell, Amy is a little dramatic. (I'm told she comes buy it honestly. Apparently I was that way when I was young?? Hmm... I don't remember, it must be a lie. haha)

Will was getting tired and crawled to the middle of the room and laid down. Between that and Amy's injury, it was time to go. Which I hated, because I love talking and especially love talking to the Meyers!

  2. I could see the glee in Amy's eyes as she held the little chick. They really are cute. The duck is nice but only in someone elses yard. Glad you got to visit such nice friends and maybe some day they will come to Tennessee to visit you. I always hated to leave our friends too but in later years we were able to pick up old friendships and visit as we crossed the country. That too is a load of fun. Great pictures and thanks for sending us so many. Much love to you all, Gram
One more thing--Nicole is home now and trying to sort out her things. Hope she gets a job soon.
    More love, Gram

  3. Boy I was way slow on my blog watching. I had lots of fun stuff to look at. Once I get distracted it's curtains for me. I loved all the pictures and all the family updates as you are ready to migrate hopefully for the last time in a long while. I feel sorry for all YOUR friends as they will sure miss their Sarah. I know how I felt when you moved further away and it wasn't good. I am singing a different song now though! See you Friday, yahoo!
