Turtle and Sibling Fun

I'm sure you've seen the video of Amy's experiment, but I realized later on that this was really a three-fold fun project. First, there was the magic trick- of course lots of fun. Then Amy decided to pour different levels of water in cups to make music and lastly, she combined the colors to make different colors. Like I said- three 'learning' ways of fun!

Last Tuesday night was the National Night Out. Did you attend your local night?

It's supposed to be a time where kids can look through police cars, firetrucks, ambulances and build awareness about crime prevention and safety. Of course, we are pro all this kind of stuff, so Lee really wanted to participate. Ours was at a rec center that has a nice water park. They were letting people swim for free so we donned our suits and went to the place. After a free hotdog and chips (still can't believe I ate a hotdog!), we went into the water park. It was really nice, not at all creepy (like the one in Carrollton). Amy loved it, and wasn't scared to go down the kids water slide about 50 times. Will also had no fear as he crawled into the water (about a foot deep) and didn't seem to mind that he is a floater. His rear end and head were above water and his little arms and legs were desperately trying to swim and get to the slide that his sister enjoyed so much. Poor kid... next year, next year. We never saw anything crime prevention or safety related, but swimming for free was enjoyable! Afterwards we stopped at Dairy Queen. It reminded me of when I was a kid and we'd go on the boat and get blizzards afterwards. Sorry there isn't any pictures- for obvious reasons, I didn't bring my camera.

The area has a really nice Wilderness Station, and I took Amy there on Saturday for a little animal learning thing. She got to hold a turtle, and yes, was in her glory!!

This picture didn't capture her smile, but trust me, she was grinning from ear to ear!
She didn't really want to put it down.

She's holding a dried out turkey claw. Ewww!

She was also fascinated by the snake. Thankfully, he didn't take that out of the cage.
I hate snakes. My biggest fear is that Amy is going to find one in the yard and pick one up!!
It didn't help that Savannah's brother had a pet boa. She thought that was the coolest pet ever.
Yeah, that won't happen in this lifetime in the Wade house!
The program was short, probably perfect time for her. It allowed me to explore another part of the city as well and that's always nice. We wanted to make it a family outing, but Will had fallen asleep so Lee stayed with him. Plus, it was POURING rain! Oh my! What a storm that was! The rain was nice though.

Later that afternoon I brought Amy's bike inside. She still has a tricycle and is still learning to ride really well. We didn't have anywhere to ride in Mississippi, so she never really learned. I think Santa is going to bring her a new one for Christmas and this cute little thing will be passed to Will. For now, he LOVED riding on the back.

Amy is getting to be such a big girl! After she takes a bath, by herself- she cleans up the toys, lets the water out, wraps herself in a towel, brushes her hair and teeth and then gets into her pajamas. How wonderful it is!! If he's around, Will likes to climb on the stool next to her and grab for things that are on the counter. Tonight she sang, "Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him over and over. It was really sweet. I love how much they love each other.

I think those are all the updates for now. In a few days we are heading home for a short visit and to celebrate Dad's birthday. Lee will stay here, and enjoy some rest before his 'real' work starts and the kids and I will have lots of fun with cousins and of course MeMe and Grandpa!

  1. I'm sure your mom will enjoy all of you. Then next week we get to enjoy her. Yipee! Mike and Val took us to the movie (3D Harry Potter) and dinner for my birthday. Both great. Looks like you are having a good time. If you take Amy to enough animals, maybe she won't want to take them to you. Maybe she's a budding Vet. or scientist, they both make good money. Keep having fun. Love always.

  3. Amy sure is in her glory when she is around anything that moves. I sure hope she keeps that curiosity going forever. She sure has had a lot of things to experiment with. I'm glad you take her and Will to all those interesting things it is such a great learning experience. Keep up the good work.
I know your Mom and Dad will be thrilled to have you all there with them. It is always great to have your kids around--I'm so glad mine enjoy coming as much as I enjoy having all of you.
It has been so nice to be with all the kids while Rick and Sandy are here. We even had a fantastic center piece for our table last night--We were having pizza and Emma was keeping all of us amused as we laid her in the center of the table so Jen and Steve could enjoy their pizza. She really seemed happy there and they had a chance to relax a little too. Such fun!!!
Love to you all and enjoy, Gram
