What We Do Best

We've been a good mix of busy and not busy lately. It seems like we've had some type of play date scheduled each day- which is great! It wears my kids out and allows me to see adults. On the days we haven't had a play date, I've been able to clean out something- and lets face it- that's always nice!

The other night, we went to dinner at one of Lee's co-workers house. Lee and Josh were hired together last year, and Josh's wife, Gladys, is just darling. We have SOOO much in common! It's awesome! Basically, I walked in, saw her old window above her mantel, and knew we'd get along.

We brought our kids and they successfully wore out their 75 lb English Bulldog, Reiner. Although it worked both ways. Our kids were exhausted too!

Gladys was also really prepared and had a basket of toys for the kids to play with. She even gave them each one when we left. Will slept with his ball catching things (I have no idea what they are called). Then first thing the next morning, he was playing with them again.

And Amy darted out of bed and grabbed the sun catcher to paint. She didn't even say good morning or anything! And her eyes were barely open. I guess she was excited!

Gladys also gave them some playdoh and the kids have been enjoying that as well. It was so nice of Gladys to think of/give the kids toys! We really like Josh and Gladys and can't wait to spend many more evenings with them.

Lee started teaching this week. He's had time off since May (though he's gone in to work on his dissertation and prep for this semester) and teaches the entire month of July. I'm telling you- a professors schedule is awesome! He also had some awesome news- his dissertation was accepted/approved for publication, which basically means that he's TOTALLY done, everything! Woohoo Lee!! We did it!!

Other random things... Will loves to steal our phones. He loves to play games and basically mess everything up. You can always tell when he's had your phone because all of your icons are crazy and alarms that you didn't even know you had are turned on. It's a good thing we don't have an iPad!

Yesterday I successfully got everyone into and out of Lowe's. Woohoo for me! The kids were pretty good, although Will goes crazy when he sees tools. He's going to be just like his grandpa! We did lose one of his shoes in the process. It had come off when he was playing around in the car. (I was getting Tyler and the bags in). I didn't notice it until we got home. (sigh) I went back to the parking lot later on, but it wasn't there. So I just bought him a new pair. Thankfully they were just cheap flip-flops- but it was his only pair of shoes. (He has another pair, but we can't seem to find 1 of them)

And little Tyler isn't so little! He just gets bigger and bigger and his little face is really filling out. You don't realize how big he is until you change his clothes and can see all of him. He's so precious, especially when he's sleeping. He's slept for 6 hrs at night a few times and Mommy is really happy when that happens!

Other than that, nothing too exciting is going on. We are just hanging out- what we do best!

  2. What a great time you all have had. It sounds to me like you have the world by the tail--enjoy it as much as you can. It is so nice to be making new friends and the kids too learning to be with you in the process.
I'm so glad you and Lee have finished with the huge job you have just completed. I know you both have worked very hard completing all this and the good Lord will see to it that you can enjoy it together with your growing family. You have been so blessed with the great children you have and I know you will enjoy them even more as the years go on. Always keep your love and laughter first. It is so good to see this all happening. Much love to you all, Gram
