Amy made a birthday gift for a friend. We used the same money hanging from an umbrella idea that we did for Madison. It's been fun to watch the person open the umbrella and have the money come falling out.
I went on a hike with my hiking friends. The trail wasn't as good as the description stated, but it was good to be out in nature.
Summer nights and fireflies.
Lee taught a good Sunday lesson on kings vs elected officials.
The butterflies emerged! All 8 that went into J turned. We had 3 girls, 4 boys and 1 unknown as it flew away too quickly. They will come back again this fall as they head back to Mexico.
We took our friend Marion Johnson on a Geocaching adventure with us. Unfortunately this one particular place was closed due to COVID, but it was fun anyway. This was at the Jack Daniels distillery and they had venomous snakes signs. I wondered how many snakes had to be present for them to warrant posting signs? We didn't see any, thankfully.
We found 2 of the 3 caches we were looking for.
Schoolwork. The kids are pretty good at doing it everyday. Will is the best. Tyler middle road and Amy the least likely to do it.
I think this was from when I was priming the walls upstairs. That or painting the ceiling boards. It's hard to remember which.
All our youth nights are on Zoom right now. I had never heard of Zoom and now I seem to becoming an expert.
Setting up for a zoom night where we made Smores Bars with everyone. My camera was automatically taking photos, so Amy and I had to make faces.
Tyler enjoyed the Smores Bars afterwards.
Free Krispy Kreme donut day!
Tyler and all his napkins at dinner. This kid is the messiest eater.
Mom and Dad came down to work on the upstairs. Dad and Jeff Brock made these access doors. They are fabulous with insulation built into the back. He also installed lights inside and wow are they bright. It makes it so great to see inside!
Lee and Dad installed the wood ceilings. It was a lot of hard work but it looks fantastic!
I got to take mom and dad's car WITH the trailer! It was my first time driving a trailer. I was able to make it to the next town and back without hitting anyone- which is a miracle. Mom and I were on the "buy boards and paint them" committee.
Another zoom meeting....
The hard workers! This is the guest bedroom.
In the middle of all this, we got a dog! He deserves a post of his own. So I'll save that for the next one.
Finished guest room ceilings. Dad also framed the windows.
Working on the main room. This was particularly tricky as our studs were wonky.
We heard a weird sound one night and the next morning we found out a tree had fallen behind us. This was the 3rd one that has fallen in the past month and they were all old trees. The wife said, "if another falls, we are moving." haha. Luckily there wasn't any damage. The first that fell destroyed his chicken coop which he had just rebuilt (its to the right in the photo. To the left is his shed.)
The finished main room ceiling.
We went to Florida. Again, that will be it's own post.
Carrots! First time growing them!
The monarchs are gone, but I noticed swallowtail caterpillars on my parsley. I was pretty excited.
This is the swallowtail chrysalis. Crazy looking, huh?
Lee took this screen shot and thought it was hilarious.
And that about sums up June!
