I've been wanting 4th bunting for a long time, I finally got it last year on clearance and got to hang it up!
The kids watched National Treasure 1 and 2 over the weekend. This propelled Will into an obsession with history. He built George Washington and the Revolutionary War out of legos.
Amy set up the chairs for the "at home" fireworks. The dog did GREAT! The fireworks didn't even bother him.
While lighting fireworks, Will was obsessed with learning about 1776 and then he proceeded to write a report about it! He only stopped to join the firework fun when the computer died.
Amy and Tyler were a complete pyro's this year. Actually all the kids got their own lighter and lit off fireworks. My eyes were wide-eyed the entire time. Lee was not concerned (of course.) I guess this is a typical "southern kid" right of passage. They all did great though and we didn't have any injuries. So that's a plus.
We have them line up with the Roman Candles. We call it their "Harry Potter" pose.
One of our neighbors has a cannon. He came over to get some fuses from us then a little while later set it off. It was the loudest BOOM you've ever heard. And it was a small cannon! Another set of neighbors were out and after we gained our composure, Tyler said, "Those people over there... someone yelled the S-word when the cannon went off!" He died laughing at that.
Happy 4th of July!
(I even bought Cracker Jacks for the occasion and totally forget to get them out!)
