St. Patrick's Day!

We had a fun celebrating St. Patrick's week! Since they are all in school, I find myself not celebrating the little holidays as much. And that's kind of sad! I know it's just a different phase of life but we all miss the old days.

We made a balloon countdown and included a little something fun for each day.

Each balloon had a little confetti in it, so of course Amy insisted on standing under them each day.
(I love Will's face!)

I gave the kids a bowl of shaving cream (with a few drops of red/yellow = orange food coloring) and had them make leprechaun beards.

Tyler and I made a leprechaun trap. He was SO cute talking about the leprechaun. I told him and Will how if you catch a leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day you get to keep all of their gold. Tyler looked at Will and whispered slowly, "Wow! We'll be rich!" (Although he wasn't happy about having to wear the "girl" apron. We'll have to have Aunt Donna make him a "boy" one. :)

Our dinner one night consisted of St. Patricks Day colors. (This was actually unintentional!)

I made this rainbow checkerboard cake for Book Club.

I bought these magnets years ago and finally remembered to use them. The kids played/rearranged them all month.

We made Shrinking Hats. The kids decorate the foam cups and the leprechaun magically shrinks them when he comes.

The trap wasn't successful and the leprechaun wasn't caught. But he left a note saying "hehe, you didn't get me this time!" Tyler was not happy about that. He left a bunch of green treats though and I just realized I never got a picture of it.

Everyone wore green to church on Sunday too, but I didn't get a picture of that either. St. Patrick's Day is Lee's dads birthday so we started a new tradition this year (I don't know why we never thought of it before) where he tells us stories about his dad at dinner. It was fun and I hope to carry the tradition on each year.

And that was our St. Patrick's Week!
