First Day of School

With all the kidney stone stuff, I was afraid that I would miss Amy's first day of school! I was so glad her first half day was scheduled for Friday, because had it been Thursday, I would have missed it!

After a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, it was time (finally!) for her new school clothes. This shirt fit a little weird, Mommy is going to have to add some creative stitching to keep it in place!

So excited!!

A picture with her brothers

Family time!
It was so nice that Mom was here, as we didn't have to bring the boys to school too!
Waving Good-Bye to Will- who was sad to see her go!
Lee and I walked her down to her classroom, found her cubby and put all her stuff in it.

She found her seat and immediately engrossed herself in the books that were on it. She didn't even say goodbye to us and frankly could care less that we were even still in the room.

I did manage to get her to take a picture with her teacher, Mrs. Bradley.

And that was it. Lee was blubbering like crazy, seriously, he was. It was really sweet. Me? I was fine. I kind of feel bad that I didn't get choked up. I guess because it was only a half day, it didn't really hit me or something. She needs school so badly, and will excel so much, that I'm just excited for her. I'm sure when she'd gone all day, everyday, I'll really be sad!

Will asked for her many times this morning. We took him with us to pick her up. He wasn't really a fan of sitting in the car line! When she got in the car she was excited and told us all about a scavenger hunt her class took all over the school. She got to be the line leader at some point and was also excited about that.

So our little girl is officially a Kindergartner. It's crazy how time flies! I have to admit, having to be "on a schedule" will take some adjusting. For 5 years we've basically been able to do whatever we want, whenever we want. I'm slightly afraid that I'm going to forget to bring her and/or pick her up! But she's going to love school and that makes us very happy.

  1. I love all the pictures and am so glad to have a nice one of your whole family. I now have to get it printed so I have one to carry in my purse. You have such a nice family.
I'm sure Amy was so excited to finally be in school. I know she will love it.
Sorry Will is so lonesome but he will get over it soon as he realizes he can now boss Tyler.
Glad you are feeling ok. You sure gave us a big scare. Glad it is all turning out well. Be sure to take care of yourself!!!!! Remember a nap with the boys will be good for you too. Much love to you all, Gram

  2. She really looks like she was ready. Should have got a picture of Lee. It was nice your mom was there although we don't like the reason. I bet today and tomorrow will be torture for her wanting to get back there again. I feel sorry for Will, it's hardest on them, as they don't really understand. Love always. PS Gram and I just got to our first night stop (4:00) our time relaxing before dinner.
