The Greatest Birthday Party

A few weeks ago, Amy/Will's friend Matti, had a birthday party. (His real name is Mattius. His mom is German and Mattius is a European name) The day of the party was also the morning we were moving. So the kids and I left Lee and a bunch of helpers from church to do the hard work... we went and had fun. :) This party turned out having an "experiment" theme, and yes, Amy was in her glory!!

First off... the kids combined a colored solution (borax, waster and food coloring) with a clear solution (clear glue and water) and stirred them together. The result? Slimy goop! How fun!!

Then Matti's dad got out some dry ice and experimented with that. The kids placed metal objects on it and heard it make a screeching noise. Then he put it in water, making it smoke. Lastly, they added it to a bowl of apple juice, letting it sit for awhile. The result- sparkling apple juice that we drank with the cake.

They also played catch with water balloons and ate a yummy volcano cake. After all the other experiments, I have to admit, I was waiting for the cake to erupt. Sadly, it did not. It was just a plain old yummy cake.

Since we were moving, I brought the boys along. Tyler just slept in his seat the entire time. And Will just wandered around playing. It was a really nice day out, and there were plenty of balls and riding toys to keep him occupied.

Both kids were exhausted at the end and Will fell asleep in the car holding his bat.

It was such a fun party. The activities were simple and well loved. What a great idea! It was also a great activity that kept them busy while Daddy was hard at work moving!

  1. No wonder Will was asleep! I bet they were all exhausted from having so much fun. It sounded like a wonderful party. Lots of love Gram
