Style and Playing

It's always interesting to see what Savannah wears.... and her hair style. A few months ago my friend made Savannah and her sister a lot of hairbows... so her hair has been decent lately.... but before then... geesh. So when she showed up on Monday with her hair like this.... I just shook my head....

Then her outfit and boots to go with it. We had to go to speech therapy that day and I honestly considered pinning a sign on her back that said, "She's not my kid." I'm all for kids wearing what they want, heaven knows that Amy has had some doozies... but for the most part when we leave the house, I like us looking normal.

Only a few more weeks of Savannah though! Thank heavens. She's not bad and Amy has a constant playmate.... but I'm just tired of it. Tired of being on someone else's schedule. Tired of one more person wanting something all the time (yes, I think TWO kids is plenty for my sanity, not to mention Lee's). I'm mostly just tired. It's been a great reminder of why I don't like watching other people's kids. And I still can't believe I said yes to keeping her.

Interesting way that Amy fell asleep the other night.... Maybe the book was warmer than her blanket?? (Not that we need blankets around here. We've had the a/c off and on since FEBRUARY. How do you like THAT Mom??!!!!)

The girls always play so nicely with Will. He loves to be in the thick of it and they just give him toys and let him play along too. Right now his favorite toys are a little plastic zebra, a plastic horse and a car that has the Count (from Sesame St) driving it.

Proof, yet again, that Amy is my daughter. I made cupcakes for a girl at church. But since we are going out of town, I went the easy route with boxed cake and boxed frosting. (Note- I did use water and they are dry. I'm telling you- NEVER use water in a boxed cake!!! You'll love me for that piece of advise). Amy was licking out the frosting container and then she put it down on the a/c vent. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "I'm making it freezing. It's good that way."  Ok... a) I love everything frozen and b) I used to put things on the air vent all the time- just to make them cold.  Ahhh... it's nice to know I have a follower.

I gave Will one of the cupcakes and well, he liked it. I guess he won't have any problem digging into his first birthday cake! (in only TWO months!! Where has the time gone!!??!!??)

That's about it for now. We can't wait to head back to GA and beautifulness of it. True story.... yesterday a reporter for a local news station had this question on the stations Facebook wall: "Hey guys, I am doing a series called "Pine Belt Eyesores." Do you all have any ideas on some "eyesores" I could cover?"  YES, this was a serious question. I mean, really???!! Lee died laughing when I commented "So far everything I've seen is an eyesore." But I think that Mom, Dad, Grandma, Anna and Stratton would all agree. This place is ugly. Gosh, Mississippi is making me grumpy.... I am counting the days until we can leave... thank goodness for a lot of travel and a beach trip coming up!!

When the end is in sight it always makes the present uglies bigger. You've done a marvelous job with making things go well there though. I agree about watching someone elses kids. I once did that for a neighbor. She and Mike were on the same schedule, but it was always the same having to be on their schedule and couldn't make changes at last minute like you might want. Looking at Will I don't think you should have had any doubt about him being shy about cupcakes. When you look at kids and know they selected their outfit don't you wonder where they even got the ideas in the first place. Have a good trip. Love always.

Just remember who has to pay the bills, you can turn the ac on in Dec for all I care, I don't have to pay your bill. I could put it on but I would rather save that money to have fun with my crazy kids. So it's Nov 1 for the heat and May 1 for the AC. Plan your trips accordingly people! LOL

Savannah's outfit makes Madona look bad!! I wonder what in the world the kids are thinking about when they pick out their own outfits. I'm surprised someone hasn't made a study of that!! Will sure loves to eat, I don't think he cares what it is as long as he can have some. What a cute little boy. He sure is growing up fast.
Glad your time in Miss is short and you deserve a real large GOLD star for being so adjusted during this trying time. It will all come out in the wash !!! Glad Amy and Savannah are so good to Will.
I know it's a grind watching someone elses kids but it has been good for Amy to have her around.

Life Is So Boring

Really, it is! Or has been. We always knew April would be slow... and boy, has it!! But May starts soon and then the fun will begin!!

I started packing the other day. I figured I might as well get started. For obvious reasons I can't do a whole lot yet.... these are the books from our bookshelf and other random type things.

"Will, are you ready to move to Tennessee??"  "YES" he squealed. (or he just like banging on the box...)

This July will be my 10 year anniversary from graduating college. applause, applause... thank you, thank you. So to celebrate I decided to finally frame my diploma. Mom actually matted it for me about a year ago. I finally ordered a frame about 3 weeks ago and Thursday was the day that I bought the glass. Actually, it still needs hanging wire... but at least the main part is done.

To try and help ease the boredom.... I tried making coconut macaroons..... They didn't work.

This was also the day that Anna and I sat in silence on the phone before realizing we had nothing interesting to talk about and hung up.

Friday got a little better when that evening I went to church to help with some canning for food storage. Really bad storms came though Mississippi and there were lots of tornadoes north (in Jackson) of here. It was fun to can food and the camaraderie with everyone was really the joy. I did that again Saturday morning, finishing up what we started Friday night. Amy was sick Wednesday through Friday (just a little cold) and Will got it Saturday. Lee stayed home from church with him today while Amy and I went. She wore her ladybug dress today, but she wasn't in a picture mood before we left. I always laugh as how she carries her scripture bag- across her chest like this. Whatever works!

That's about it for the excitement of the last week. This week will be much better as we get to head to GA!! Woohoo! We'll make the rounds with everyone and then head back and wait a few more weeks before we do it all again. It's about to get crazy!! (thank heavens. I don't like boredom!)

Those are sorry looking macaroons. I didn't know they were tricky to make. I have a friend who makes wonderful ones, I'll have to get the recipe from her. It's never too early to start packing, because those boring weeks never last forever and time always runs out. Hope you have fun at moms. Love always.

Maybe you can learn to make good macaroons by June. I think we all like eating them. Hope Lynn gets you the really delicious recipe a friend of hers has. I'll try bugging her about it. Experiments

First of all... Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is back on!!

Woohoo!!!! It started last night, but you can watch the episodes online at the link above. We LOVE this show and love how he isn't scared to research food, especially kids school lunches, and try to implement healthy change. My favorite quote from last night was, "You don't give kids flavored milk in the middle of an obesity crisis." SOOOO true!! (not that my kids even drink the stuff.)

Anyhoo.... after we watched that, Lee watched a PBS special on high school football players and their injuries. THEN we watched Waiting For Superman, a documentary about the public school system. A lot of tv last night. That's rare for us! But between those 3 shows- we went to bed really depressed. First, our kids are eating junk, then they are getting serious injuries (I didn't watch that one, but heard bits and pieces) and then we are failing to teach them. So sad!! I had to watch an episode of the Cosby show just to laugh again! haha.

But all of that inspired me to do my job and this morning we got to work. I worked on sight words with Amy (she's really good at memorizing.She already knows the first 9 weeks of words. ) And then after Savannah got here, we did a little seed planting. I soaked some wheat berries overnight so they could plant them today.

The girls were really excited. Savannah wanted to plant the whole yard. Hmmm.... maybe I should have let her!

On Sunday, a lady at church gave me some American Girl craft books. (Which I thought was so sweet. She doesn't have much and said she saw them at a yard sale and had to get them for Amy.) Well, yesterday the girls came running to me, a certain page marked and said, "Can we make this???!!!??" When I said they could- they looked so surprised! haha.

We could only get part of it done yesterday before Savannah had to leave. So they finished them today. They are wands with stars on the end of them. I liked it because I used my Silhouette to cut the stars. So easy!! I didn't have any dowels for the rods, so I used popsicle sticks and taped them together. It worked!

This little boy LOVES cups. In fact, if you are drinking from a cup, and not sharing, he'll start growling at you. (well, it's kind of a growl/scream)

Yesterday we got a nice surprise in the mail. Food Storage!! Mom sent us this wonderful bucket of 275 servings of various foods..... we also loved the box because, well, we need it! Two gifts in one- thanks Mom!

Other than that, the weather is beautiful. I'm headed to Zumba again tonight. Monday was a different teacher than Friday and WOW that girl worked you! I didn't know the dances either, so I was a the newbie in the back of the room. Oh well. But it's fun and I like that it makes me do a cardio workout for an hour. Lee's just working hard on his dissertation. It won't be much longer and I won't be able to say that anymore. Woohoo!! haha.

Looks like again you are keeping busy. I'm glad the girls like to keep busy with new brainy ideas. Always like to keep the imagination going. Have you finished the quilt yet? The quilt I once started took about 19 years to finish. Ugh!!! Quilts not my thing. Crazy the things I like to do take as much time, but not as much fun. At least for me. Keep busy. Maybe poke your siblings into doing a little blogging. Hint, hint. Love always.

Can't wait to see the quilt when it's done. Looks like it's going to be really cute! I thought about making B one with some of her baby clothes one day. I'm cataloging all these nifty ideas of yours for Brecken when she's a little bigger...ha, ha!! ;o) Love them! That's awesome that Will is holding his own cup. Brecken will not hold her own yet even though she probably can...aah!

Sunday

For the uneventful week we had- Sunday kind of made up for it.

Yesterday I laid out Amy's quilt.... I think it's going to turn out cute! Now to sew all the pieces on.....

Amy wore her cupcake dress from Aunt Donna...... (it has cupcakes all over it)

And while Lee and I were getting ready, she read to Will.....

At church Amy did GREAT on her scripture and prayer in Primary. She was so excited and it was so cute to watch her. I was asked to teach a lesson in Relief Society, on Service, and that was fun too. Then for dinner, we had my heart, Leslie, (LOVE this girl!!) over for dinner along with her boyfriend, Dustin. (Well, kinda... they just started dating)

As you can see, Amy was not shy and liked him immediately. She showed them her bedroom, how she jumps on the bed, etc. Even Will kept crawling up to him. Hmmm... maybe he's a keeper???!!!??  (Amy kept calling him "Leslie's brother." haha)

After they left, Amy was still in silly mode... so she started playing with Will. I just love how much they play together.

Amy taking advantage of tackling Will right now. In a few years it won't be so easy!

Then Amy decided to put pants on our heads so we could be Pirates. (Lee was on the phone with his mom so he didn't get to join in the fun)

Then it was time for bed. Thankfully the kids we so tired out that they went to sleep without any problem! We should do this everyday!!!
