Amy's Birthday, part 1- Chuck E. Cheese

Tomorrow (the 19th) is Amy's actual birthday. But tomorrow night will be kind of rushed so we decided to celebrate part of her birthday tonight- at Chuck E. Cheese. I remember going there on my birthday's as a kid. (My mom only did birthday parties every other year, so the in between years we went to dinner as a family and we got to choose the spot. Of course, we always chose Chuck E. Cheese)

She was looking forward to it all day. And the whole "celebrating tonight" thing kind of confused her. She said, "Do I have another birthday?" But that definitely didn't deter her from having fun!

Tuesday night was the night to go. We had practically the entire place to ourselves (we were the only ones there at first). Then when I told the lady it was Amy's birthday, they gave her some extra tokens, which Amy just thought was awesome. And to top things off- there was a staffer going around, just playing the games and leaving the tickets for the kids to take. Jackpot! haha.

Will was having sensory overload. He didn't make a peep the whole time we were there!

Since it was her birthday, she got to go up to the stage and dance with Mr. Chuck E Cheese. On the way to the stage, Amy asked his handler (???) if he would play a game with her, and he did. What a nice mouse. After the songs, they threw out tickets, which was fun too.

All in all- it was a fun night at the cheese house. (Although I'm not sure who had more fun, Amy or Lee. I had to tell him to stop playing games because we ran out of tokens and after all- it was Amy's birthday. Chuck E. Cheese- where a kid can be a kid! What a great slogan for both of them)

I know Nicole loves to go to Chuck E. Cheese as well for her birthdays. I can say prowdly that I have never been to one. The one closest to us closed years ago I had heard it wasn't very good so we never went. Glad you all had so much fun though and I would go myself after seeing your pictures. Glad she's having so much fun with her extra birthdays. Love always.

Looks like Amy had a wonderful birthday at Chuck E. Cheese! Brought back memories seeing Chuck E. Cheese. My Uncle use to dress up as the mouse when I was a kid...you don't know how many times my Grandmother had to sew his tail back on...ha, ha!! Hope you all are having a fun week!

I love Chuck E. Cheese. And I think their pizza is good too. Adam likes it still too. Glad you hit a quiet night. I remember taking you kids and the place was a zoo. Happy Birthday Amy.

Savannah Returns

Can we say WOO HOO!!! Let me hear you now... WOO HOOOOOO!!! hahaha.

I honestly never thought I'd say that, since I really don't like watching other people's kids, but Savannah is the much needed playmate for our darling Amy. It was a little rough going at first, Savannah stood at the door and cried for awhile, but I was able to talk to her a little, feed her, and then the girls were off playing. Literally. They started playing at 12noon and I didn't see them again until 3:30 when Savannah's mom came. They were playing in Amy's room with the door closed and having a ball. I could hear them laughing, talking... it was so sweet.

Earlier this morning Amy talked Lee into playing dolls with her. She wanted her Barbie to ride her reindeer, but it kept falling off. So Lee got a rubberband and tied her legs together and then onto the reindeer. Pretty ingenious. And it worked.

Also- if you can tell- the pony has a hairclip attached to the back antenna of the plane. (the clip is brown and black). Amy thought of this one. It's "holding the pony's hair so it doesn't get in her face when she flies." Another ingenious idea. Lee and Amy appear to be a couple of brainiacs. (I wouldn't never thought of either)

And then there's our sweet William. Who just loves cups. I think we ruined him by giving him green smoothies because every time he sees a cup (or a straw!!) he goes crazy. I guess he knows there's something good in there! (although this one was empty so he was a bit disappointed)

Will would rather have something to eat or drink than playwith dolls anyway. He sure is a cutie!
Love to all,

Sunday Fun

Yesterday, at church, Amy got a goodie bag for her birthday. She was SO cute about it.
I picked her up after Primary and she said,
"Mom. This is for me. I cannot open it at church, I have to wait until I get home. "
(hey, it's nice to know she follows other people's directions)

We got in the car and I told her that she could go ahead and open it.
 She was like, "Really!!!??? Ok!!!"
Then as she was naming everything off- candy, a necklace, a bracelet, toy animals, etc-
she squealed and said, "All of this is for me?? I can't believe it! Yippee!!"

oh! It was SO darn cute!

Notice her hairstyle, braided pigtails, because it will explain her hair in the video.
She gets into a dress just fine on Sunday mornings, but the moment we get home,
she basically strips down in the kitchen.
Part of that is taking out her hairstyle.
I guess she can only handle 'nice' hair for so long.

In other news- I guess you could say that Will is 'officially' crawling.
It's still military-like, but he used to roll to get to stuff and
yesterday was the first day he went across the room- going forwards the whole time (not rolling).
Nothing is safe now! At least it's a good excuse to keep my house clean!

What a cute picture of Amy--you can feel her excitement just looking at it. It is nice to know she will follow directions so well. A lot of kids would have opened it right a way. I would love to be there tomorrow when it is her birthday. Love to you all. Gram

Saturday Productivity

I have to admit- this was the first Saturday, in a long time, that we were productive.
Usually we sleep in, lazy around and wish we had done something.
I guess because we are SO tired from the week, its a great excuse to relax.
But even though I felt like we did that today- we still got a LOT done.

The house is completely cleaned, vacuumed and all.
I still have to mop the kitchen floor- but am waiting for the kids to go to sleep.
I even cleaned out all the kids drawers,
changed out clothing (always sad to me, they grow so fast!)
and EVEN emptied mine and Lee's sock drawer and rematched every sock in the house.
Those that don't have matches at time of matching were trashed.
There's something lethargic about a cleared out sock drawer....
(by the way, has anyone EVER figured out where the mismatches go?? I think the washer eats them)

Then after the kids naps, we took them to the park for a little while.
It was a cold 60 deg out (it was chilly because it was really humid.)
And yes Aunt Lynn- the gloves came just in time. We went from 25 deg to 60 deg weather.

The 'green' slide. Otherwise known as the place she found the frog.
She now looks for one every time. She always convinces Lee to go down with her.
She used to be scared of this one, but she'll go down it by herself now.

When we got home, Amy was taking off her sweatshirt.
I was working on dinner and she said, "Mom, I'm stuck."
I kind of brushed her off and she said,
"Look at me!" In a really funny way. Yep, she was stuck.

So that was our day. Yes, quite productive for us.
Now we can actually relax and have a restful Sunday.
Which is nice since we now have church at 9am.
We hope you had a great day too!

Boy you guys have gone green. Even on pizza! Good going. We didn't get anywhere near that much done on Sat. Great going. Love the pics and Will is still cute excited or not. Love always.

How did Amy get unstuck!! I can't figure how she got into that predicament in the first place. Kids!! Will sure has beautiful eyes! He is going to be a real lady killer when he grows up. He is already. Glad you got so much work done on Saturday that saved you from doing it today. It always feels good when you get a lot done. Can't figure out why I don't get more done every day. Just getting Old I guess.
Love to you all,
Gram

Yesterday's Fun

Just a few more pics from yesterday....

Amy said, "Mom! I didn't do it. My fingers did!"

So what did I do with her for the rest of the day??
Water Play, of course!!

I figured that the bathroom needed cleaning anyhow-
so I let her at it with a bucket, some soap and a stopped up sink.
Ahh...... such fun!
(except that I had to change my socks twice last night b/c I kept stepping in water. I HATE wet socks!)

Notice the animals on the toilet.... they were getting a bath.
She also played with make-up at some point because her makeup bag is on the floor as well.
